Directly across from the main entrance to Havensite (the cruiseship dock shopping area) is a Budget Car rental building and Al Cohen's plaza, which has The Shipwreck Tavern in it, with a big burger on the roof. There is a small road in between them that drives right up to Paradise Point. It's about 200 yards SSW of the Tram.

The Bushwackers up there always win the "Best of the VI" competition! Yummy! (wish I could still drink them, but, being an alcoholic, it's best if I don't drink any at all! haha!)

And there are about 15 shops up there, all nice, but the best one would be The Pirate's Chest, which has won the "Best of the VI" competition 2 years in a row. Great store. Check out the shipwreck treaure...awesome!

If you've never been to the Shipwreck for the burger...you're missing out! They have won the "Best of the VI" competition something like 6 years in a row for the burguer! 3/4 lb! Yummy! And you probably don't need the fries! Haha! Say "Hi' to Carly, the hostess...she's PinkCoconut from the board. Hasn't been posting much since she got here cuz of no internet access, but she'll be back on soon, I'm sure.

We agree w/Marty, Pirates Chest is one of the best gift shops on Island 🙂 We make it a point to stop and shop there every time we're on island....be sure to go to Paradise Point on Wednesday night for the "Sun Set Party", get up there early for a parking spot. We had lunch at the Shipwreck this past Nov. for the first time...boy have we missed some great food over the past 8 years 🙁 Be sure to have a BIG appetite-you'll need it.

Hey Marty, how's it going, We're already planing our trip for next year 🙂 can't wait!! Be sure to tell, Sean, Carlee, Ann and Jim we said HI and Happy Holidays !!! See y'all in Oct/Nov.

GO BEARS!!!

We tried to get up there last Wednesday for their $5 local/party but they wanted a ~room key~ from us & all we had was a Cinnamon Beach cottage key & they wouldn't accept that!
Seriously....either you live there or are visiting....I was not real happy that our cottage key wasn't good enough!! Man...we shoulda kept our Wyndham key!!

If they only accept room keys from certain hotels, what about people who rent villas? After all, the villa people are probably spenidng more $ per night for their stay AND may be renting the villa from a local, investing more than someone who rents a room from the Wyndham chain. Why not a rental car key OR a hotel key? At least that will give the villa renters a chance. Or maybe the hotels haev a deal with the tram people.

Am I understanding this right that the Wednesday night thing is only available to those who are staying in resorts?
That would be a real bummer seeing it was one the things we had planned to do.

Lana...from what I understood is that Wednesday nights are kinda like party night for the locals & if you show them a resort key, you can go too.
Normally they are only open till 4 or 5pm for the cruise ship visitors??? But stay open on Wednesday nights.
Correct me if I'm wrong???

Sitter... I'm not sure. We are staying in a Villa in February and were planning on going there on Wednesday night, but if it's only available for locals or people with a resort key then I guess we're out of luck?

If you're on the prowl for the best Bushwacker on the island - go to "The 19th Hole" just off Main St. under the BLUE Royal Dane Mall sign just inside the big open doorway on the left-just ask anyone in that area-they can tell you where it is. Gene makes the BEST Bushwacker on the island IMO. Paradise Point makes the second best and Island Blues over on St. John makes a Raspberry Bushwacker that my husband can't get enough of! The "19th Hole" is small-has about 10 barstools - he & his wife Harriet are from Texas. We've spent alot of our afternoons sitting, talking & drinking with them. We're headed down a couple of weeks after you-can't wait to see them & drink away the afternoon!
