I know that on previous visits to STT we have had a hard time finding parking at or near the ferry dock, any ideas?

I don't know how long it's been since you were here but the new ferry terminal is now fully operational and there is ample new parking there as well as across the street.

I was there in May of 08 and we had to park along the road and walk a distance.

Kisherrick- Thanks for starting this thread!

We found parking in so many places on St. Thomas to be a challenge. Many places don't have adequate parking. It was an eye opener to us for sure. When we went to Mafolie Restaurant, we found there is parking spaces for about 4 cars. Other than that, everyone parks on the side of the road. On both sides! Crazy, as there is a serious curve very close to the place. Interestingly enough however, we enjoyed the place a lot and was very thankful that our Jeep was in one piece when we left....:-)

We had the same issue at the Banana Tree Grill. All the parking spots were taken. We asked a couple of people sitting outside the lobby where she would park. I don't even want to tell you where they put us but we made it ,and had a wonderful experience! It was so funny that as we were leaving another couple drove by us and asked, "Where should we park?" Chuck said, "We're leaving our spot, back up and take it!" Again, we had a WONDERFUL evening...

When we went down into Charlotte Amalie on Friday. Although there was only one ship in town on the day, we decided to visit, "the city." Every cab on the Island had absorbed every parking space in the town. It was frustrating and somewhat sad. We witnessed more than one unhappy tourist being sent on there way by the VIPD saying they could not stay where they were. We were told by a cabby to park on the Apron. Glad we did not decide to do that as we witnessed a cop ticketing folks who had done so. After riding around for about 30 minutes, we finally found a place that seemed okay. It was obvious that in Charlotte Amalie, it's understandably all about the cruise passengers. Despite the parking challenges, we had a wonderful visit.

On the other hand, I would like to mention that Coki Beach was the most unpleasant experience we had on the island. Way too many people for the access and parking that exists. Next time I go, and yes, I will go again, it will be at 8:00 in the morning before anyone else gets there. Really, something needs to be done about that beach parking....awful!!

Do hope you have a wonderful vacation!

Deb

I would try the Ferry Parking lot first. Which is woefully undersized for daily traffic load that runs through there. If it is full then go up the hill by Marina Market and park at Mencia's lot. They are at the top of the hill and have a shuttle van that will run you down to the ferry. It will be $10 a day either way.
