I have done some searching of previous posts, forgive me if I missed this topic, but I could not find any info. What is the best strategy for finding parking in Charlotte Amalie..is there a specific area or is 'circling' the best bet?

I highly recommend spending a few bux and using Fort Christian Parking lot, within walking distance of the shops. They charge by the hour, the most you will pay is $5 for the day.

Most other spaces have 1/2 hour or 1 hour, and parking tickets or tire boots are quite easy to come by under these conditions...

Boy, can I attest to this as we were just there a few weeks ago. Use the paid parking lot, it is so much easier. Course, depending on the time of day you get there, you may be *circling* inside the parking lot for a space as well 🙂

Hoping to return in July!

Thank you BOTH for this excellent suggestion! 🙂 Last year we circled downtown a bit but it seemed hopeless...and if we do get stuck circling the lot, at least its a lot less confusion (people crossing the street, narrow alleys, etc) Again..thanks! 🙂

Even the fort parking lot is often totally full. What I have done if that is the case is to park at Havensight where there is always space and then garbed one of the many cabs into town.

take the safari from the place you are staying....$1 or $2 dollars and don't worry about parking. Just an idea.

The last time I was on STT I rented a Jeep Wrangler. I always found a parking spot on the strip between the water and Veteren's Drive with no problem. Don't know if it was timing or what. Then when leaving I could drive right off the curb with the high ground clearance of the Jeep.
