Anyone wanta try and straighten me out?

I have our photos uploaded to our Nikon pictures website and want to post the link to some of them to the trip report we're wanting to share here to allow viewing when you click the link. The best I've been able to do thus far is copy and paste the URL link here in a new posting, but it results in the photo being displayed, whereas I just want the link to be in the posting and not the photo itself, since displaying the photos will take up a lot of room.

I've read the Help on both this and the Nikon sites, but can't seem to get it yet. Appreciate any advice/instructions out there. :S

Hello Lojeep,

If you don't use the image insert button (which is in the same row as the smiley face button in the message posting field) or img tags you should be able to just post a straight link for an image the same way you would post a link to say this website and have it look like this https://www.vinow.com for example.

If you wanted to post the whole album rather than individual images in the album than you should be able to just post the album url.

Does that help any?

Looked at the test photo you previously posted and here is what you need to do...

Your photo url is the one below (I put a space after the http so it wouldn't automatically convert it to showing a photo).

http ://f01-f03.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmdController/cache/NBJnW1LMHSDeKDWegTh%259mdD_if-EqA8w_xfejGxhmreBVchn1EmSx%25clk2RfLm/item.JPG?rot=0

To post just the link and prevent the board from automatically converting it to showing a photo you need to remove the .JPG?rot=0 part from the end so it will look like this (again added a space after http: )

http: //f01-f03.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmdController/cache/NBJnW1LMHSDeKDWegTh%259mdD_if-EqA8w_xfejGxhmreBVchn1EmSx%25clk2RfLm/item

Without the space added your photo url would look like this (its automatically shortened to the main domain by the message board but correctly links to your photo rather than showing it).

http://f01-f03.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmdController/cache/NBJnW1LMHSDeKDWegTh%259mdD_if-EqA8w_xfejGxhmreBVchn1EmSx%25clk2RfLm/item

And you could use the URL submission button (just to the left of the smiley face) and enter the URL, without the .JPG?rot=0 part, click ok, and then in the next field enter what the image is of and then click ok, and it will appear in your message as a URL but when posting your message will look like this for example:

Photo of Yacht Haven Grande & Charlotte Amalie

Try posting a test with another photo in your reply and see if it works.

Thanks Islander for the steer. STT Resident: Thanks for checking in. Sorry - I didn't want the photo displayed, only the link. I should have believed the Preview but wanted to see for sure, so reason I did the Test. It no doubt looked a bit foolish to some of you regulars here.

With Omar in your area I don't think the mood is right for our trip report just now. So will be holding off. We did want to thank the administrators and everyone on this forum for the help you gave us in planning our trip there last week.

Warm regards and God bless getting you all through the storm safely.

Lojeep: The storm passed to our east. We had rain, but very little wind. Don't put off your trip report! We would love to hear it! 🙂
