For those who have stayed at Point Pleasant- could you suggest which suites among the superior offerings would be the best to request? I'm so curious to try this place. Thank you

Ingrid:

Top of the hill....the D units....the very top units have cathedral ceilings.

We have visited many of the hill top units and have found them to be (IMHO) the best.

Be sure to visit the Agave & Fungi restaurants on property. Also the nature trail is worth the walk. Coki beach is a short walk away (if you don't have a car).

Note: If you're staying more than a couple of days I highly recommend that you rent a car.

For any other specifics send me a PM.

I'll be at Point Pleasant on the 23rd, and with the advice from Future Islander, I've requested a unit in the D-building, hopefully I'll get one. While staying at Sapphire Beach on an earlier trip, I had to go visit PP for the Agave restaurant and the view. I enjoyed walking trails to the different levels. Looking forward staying there.

Remember though the D buildings are at the very top of the hill - a long walk up from the beach & Fungi's. Try a B or C - its more midway - views are still good

Yes, the D units are high up....but worth it for the view. Also, you just walk to the parking area, use the white phone, and call for the free shuttle....Willie will be there in minutes.

I just thought of this -should I purchase bug repellent candle to sit out on the patio at dusk, do you tip the shuttle driver and whatever heads up info I should be aware of ? I've requested being in a D unit-I'm excited. Thank you all who have answered!

Ingrid:

I tip the driver once....usually the first time....a couple of bucks.......or if you have your own car just drive down to the beach level yourself.

Since Point Pleasant is on the East End (and you usually have an East to West wind) the bugs don't really bother us up in the D units. However, if it has just rained and the wind is either very light or non existent than some bug repellent should do the trick.

Other suggestions......take bug repellent to the beach......as there are the no-see-ums.

Rent a car. Drive around the island.

Say hello to Al the bartender at Fungi's......Al is a Will Smith look-a-like.

Try the Agave for a romantic dinner....but be sure to reserve ahead of time.

Remember the restaurants are not open for breakfast at Point Pleasant. You can get supplies at the Marina Market (Red Hook), Plaza Extra (TuTu Mall) or the lobby has a (small) offering of breakfast supplies like eggs, bread, milk, etc (but they are expensive).

Best prices for liquor (IMHO) is at Cost-U-Less or K-Mart (TuTu Mall).

Coki Beach is nearby....good for snorkeling. Also the area in front of Point Pleasant (Sugar Beach) is a good area for snorkeling. Sugar Beach is very small and secluded, sort of something that you would expect on a remote desert island...very romantic too since no one is ever there. Get your snorkeling gear (for free) at the gift shop next to Fungi's. They also loan out kayaks (free).

If you're going to do some hiking on the nature trails (Point Pleasant) bring good walking shoes (not flip flops).

You can also book all of your excursions through the activities desk (Concierge) in the lobby.

Have a great time!!!!

I will agree with Future Islander on doing the nature trails, Coki, and the rest. I think Point Pleasant has one of the best "feelings." It just feel GOOD to be there. It was very quiet and relaxing. Though we requested a certain room area and didn't get it. Not even close. Be sure to go to Funji's and get a drink or a snack and just sit and watch the water. It's amazing. We also kayaked there, and it was fun! Great exercise, too. And I'll "ditto" Future Islander about Sugar Beach. A lot of people discount it...we thought it was one of the best places. Nobody was there. We snorkeled off of Sugar and saw lots of neat fish. Sugar Beach is at the end of the nature trail. Have fun! Point Pleasant is a nice place. And Willie is the nicest guy!
