Hello all,

We will be arriving by cruise ship Tuesday November 20th and would like to hire a private driver for the day.

We would like to do this because we want to go to specific places throughout the island, be at our own pace, and not have to worry about a different taxi driver every time.

There are at least 10 different places we want to hit, all but two are not the usual tourist traps. We are thinking that we would begin by doing some quick shopping in town and then make our way out to Red Hook, probably have lunch there in RH, then around the north end and back down to the pier around 230pm.

We are not so much interested in spending hours at the beaches, just a stop to see them, maybe buy a drink and sit for a few minutes enjoying the sights, then move on to the next destination.

Can anyone suggest someone they know there that is interested in this sort of arrangement and what the reasonable rate might be for this hire?

Thanks

Phil & Liz

Great Question! While I don't know of any private drivers, I can think that you might call the taxi service and ask if you can reserve a taxi for the day. Here's the link for the VI NOW advertised Taxi service:

Others may have an even better idea.

Good Luck! Have Fun!

Try this lady. She is amazing. She will fit the bill, but as far as cost, I have no idea what it should be.How much are you willing to spend?
Jackie Jeffries is her name and she can be reached at 340 998-0572. Tell her Ronnie told you to call.

We had considered this on one of our previous trips but were already on island and had no luck when we asked a few people about it. Very good idea to plan ahead for limited time. Please come back to the board after your trip and let us know how things went.

Thank you everyone for the replies and PM.

We will look into the suggestions offered.

If all else fails we will simply wing it and try to see and do what we can and enjoy the island.

Hello, folks...

Per Anna Clarke of Toad 'N' Tart, St. Thomas, VI, I offer my time for your touring needs in late November.

The asked fee is $25 per hour for the day; or, a flat rate for the estimated time you will require a driver. (I can be sensitive to your budgetary dictates.)

Whatever your decision regarding this bid, I wish you a remarkably entertaining visit.

You might want to contact the USVI Certified Tour Guides through their website http://www.certifiedtourguide.vi

They offer a variety of tours with a historical/cultural focus, and they all completed training at the University of the Virgin Islands. Most tours are $25 pp.
