I stumbled upon this website looking for a Private charter power boat. Currently I have a boat reserved with a captain for 8 hours. We will be arriving on a cruise ship, docked in St.Thomas, and we can be off the ship from 7am to 8am

I am planning on proposing to my long time girlfriend during this chartered boat experience. I was thinking on a Private island or beach somewhere. It was suggested that I do it on "Sandy Spit," but I fear there may be too many other people there. So I am looking for advice from locals or people who have been to the US-VI and BVI to find out a great place for the proposal.... my only thoughts on what I would like are:

Private situation
Beautiful scenery
Boat access (26' boat)
Or short swim/snorkel access
Within a reasonable distance from the Red Hook Docks

If anyone can make a suggestion or perhaps give me pictures that would be amazing. GPS coordinates would be welcomed as well! Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Wish me luck!!!!(tu)8-)

There are alot of Cays around STT that could be candidates, I don't know which are private/off-bounds and which are fair game to visit...

I do know that Big Hans Lollik looks awesome in photos...

Another thought for learning about the Cayes is to buy a book....I'm considering this myself as well...

Here's one example:

If you have already Chartered a boat, then yes, you should talk to the Captain and as already said, weather can dictate exactly where you go!
As for the Cruise ship, in a way, that is good! They would charge an arm and a leg anyway and charge too much for their wedding packages! Congrats! Post some pictures!

I'm not sure if unobtanium has already gone on his cruise, but I was thinking about this thread today. One problem with planning specifics in the Virgin Islands is that there is always something to mess up the plan! For example, tonight and tomorrow, a huge swell is forecast. That means that usually placid beaches and cays will be deadly due to huge breaking waves and rip currents. So, be flexible in your planning and allow the captain to determine the safest and best place to go...:-)
