I read it was a bench trial. Do trials by jury not take place in USVI? I thought it was odd that this was judged and sentenced all by one judge.

Don't read into this post more than what it is. The post makes no claim of guilt or innocence. I am merely asking about trials in general.

Yes, we have trials by jury here. Just last year the courts randomly collected folks out and about running errands and placed them on juries, something that occasionally happens on the mainland as well. Like elsewhere in the U.S., a defendant here can opt for a trial by judge. It is likely that Sells and his attorney considered the probable jury pool and made their choice.

Bob Sells waived his right to a trial by jury. Obviously he didn't count on getting Judge Holler. He won't last long, convicted of racism, in a West Indian jail. It is really a travesty that the FBI investigation results are not being released.
