Hey guys!
Im going back to St. John in March. This time i wanna go to Jost Van Dyke and spend like one full day there. I've been reading about these excursions, but i think we would rather do our own thing...I wanna go to Ivan's and Foxy's and one Love and Soggy Dollar and lay out on the beach all day. Sooo does anyone know if there is just a ferry that takes you over to JVD or something then you can go to to STJ whenever you want? Please someone let me know. I need to know if i need to book something or if i can just do it when we get there. THanks 🙂

did you check the ferry schedule listings at the top of the page under STJ to Transportation to VI Ferry Schedule? You might find what you need under that

Hi,

I'm jealous. My family and I visited St John this past summer. I planned to go to Jost, but never did. I regret it so much.

Check out www.oceanrunner.vi. It depends on how many people are in your group, but this may not cost much more than the ferry. This will give you the freedom that you want. If you don't have boat experience a captain will go with you.

I doesn't take long to get to Jost. You may even have time to explore other places such as Virgin Gorda. I wish we would have done this.

Me again, Rsmall reminded me that JVD is almost swimmable distance from STJ and renting your own powerboat is a great option if you're comfortable around boats. There's no navigation really involved to get there since its right next door, unlike some of the BVIs further out. We rented a 16 footer or so during one past trip for our family of 4 and from Cruz Bay it was a quick trip over there. We had rough seas due to an overnight big storm but we're boaters anyway so we weren't throw off. We rented on the spur of the moment, in May, but it may be more of an issue if you go during high season. I think we paid around $200 for the day but that was about 5 years ago.
