Bringing the family (four of us) down early June for a week's stay in St. John, and hoping to add a couple of days in St. Thomas to the trip. Any recommendations on a small, inexpensive, CLEAN hotel in STT? Would prefer to stay close to CA, but we won't be too picky on the location. We've looked on the net and found Mafolie, Harbor View, Island Beachcomber, a few others, but would appreciate feedback from the forum. Thanks!

Hello 2Feathers,

Mafolie is just above town, great view. Good choice for what you described. Just by Island Beachcomber you also have Emerald Beach, you could take a look at it too. Those two properties are right next to each other, same beach. There are a few bed & breakfast types in downtown Charlotte Amalie like http://www.bellavista-bnb.com/ and http://www.crystalpalaceusvi.com, you can see if they match your need & budget.

Enjoy Planning 🙂

Just returned from St. Thomas and was very pleased with Best Western Emerald Beach. It's a typical Best Western, but the beach is awesome! And for about $150, you can't beat it! Especially considering every room is ocean front. I don't think you'll find the other small hotels are on the ocean - - mostly hillside in CA. Emerald Beach is about 3 mi from CA.

By the way, it was very clean. Pool was clean, room was clean, nice restaurant with a free continental breakfast.

Check it out!
