Hello and greetings to all. This is a question mainly for the folks who live on Island. We will be there (Secret Harbour) next week, and we plan to take the ferry to St. John several times during the course of our stay, what is the recommendation for parking at the ferry terminal area? I know it is under construction, and it is chaos at best.

We will have a car, but we are taking the people ferry to St. John mainly because we are going to be there after the last car ferry departs Cruz Bay. So parking at Red Hook is important.

Any insight, Islander, Marty, Ronnie.......anyone?

Yes, parking for the ferry is chaos. If you don't mind walking thru Red Hook, there is a new parking lot West of Kean High School (just before the trash station) that will charge you $5 - but there will be room there and perhaps no surprises.

Is it busy even in the evening? Or just during the day

Kimberly -

Less busy in the evening, but then the parking in Red Hook becomes for restaurants and bars, and it is still crowded.

Thanks for the info, Max. I suppose it would be too much to hope for some sort of shuttle between the pasking area and the ferry dock. We will have some things to tote over to St. John, and while the walk through Red Hook is not bad, it would not be a pleasant walk carrying a bunch of packages.

Thanks Max....I'll be parking there in three days! Just in the evening when we hit some of the restaurants and bars

Wellll..... There is supposed to be a shuttle operated by the Taxi Drivers' Assoc who operates the lot (and gets the money), but I have never seen one.
