Hello: I have just rented a condo for April 2008 in an area referred as the Upper Deck area, just outside Cruz Bay.
Is anyone familiar with the area? I have been to St. John before but do not recall any reference to this area.

Just wondering what to expect......

The area referred as the "Upper Deck" is only a few minutes outside of Cruz Bay. Turn left at the very top of Jacob's Ladder. Jacob's Ladder is the steep hill right before going down to the Westin Resort. This area got it's name from a really wonderful restaurant called the "Upper Deck" which was located in this area. It is no longer there as it meet its demise with the arrival of hurricane Hugo. The Upper Deck restaurant bar was a really good local hang out in years past. I would presume the condo you rented is Serendip? This is also very close to the area where the new Sirenusa development - which has been under a lot of controversy - is under construction.
