Should I rent a car on St. Thomas or St. John? Is the car ferry still still having issues with long line?

In the past I have always rented from Budget because it was a easy pick up and drop off at the airport and I enjoy the drive out to Red Hook.

We always rent from Amalie Car Rental on St Thomas when we stay on St John.  New vehicles and awesome customer service.  Car barge issues have been resolved, as there are now 4 barges running, so if one is down, it is much better than when there were only 2 running.
