Hexspeed ---

Looking back at your Post, if all went well, you should be on STT today, and by now have probablky had time for many tropical umbrella drinks! Hope you made it safe with no problems.

Please let us know how your jeep pickup with RentAMotion went. I have booked through them also. Searched through a lot of material over the weekend to try to understand more about them and ease some of my concerns at relatively no info being out there. From what I have come up with so far, they may be a 'hidden gem' for jeep rentals. But your experience would be great to know.

Please post again when you come up for air and are settled. 🙂

Thanks,
VM Breeze

We're here and settled, and the rental transaction went off without a hitch. We had a 100 mph tailwind so our flight landed 20 minutes early. I called the RentAMotion (RAM) office and was told Julie had timed her arrival for the scheduled landing time, so we enjoyed the sun for a few minutes. Julie drove up right when we should have been walking out of baggage claim -- we took care of the paperwork in the parking lot and drove off.

RAM brought us a late-model ('14 or '15, 17k miles) red Jeep. No dings, dents or interior flaws. Couple of things for the uninitiated. We rented a 2 dr soft top - a rarity now days as most all rentals are the hard tops. RAM brings the jeep without the rear "curtains"; you can pick them up at the office if you want them, we didn't care. RAM also let's you drop the top for a convertible experience, the only rental agency that I know of that will allow that (they even offer instructions). The down side is that the back seat is open to the weather and prying eyes / sticky fingers. Having rented jeeps many times, we knew this and were OK with the trade offs. I didn't ask RAM whether they had hard tops -- if having a weather tight vehicle is important, you should check that out. Don't want people posting that RAM is cheap by sending jeeps with only half a top!! Informed renters love choices and I'm happy RAM offers what we got.

So, two days of driving around and I'm happy. I'll update the forum after we go through drop-off -- given our experience so far, I'm expecting that will also be hassle free.

Enjoy your trip. The locals are complaining about how cold it's been -- we're loving every minute of the 80 degrees!

Glad you were able to get a rental car and your experience has, so far, been positive. Enjoy your vacation.

Locals love cool weather and winter in the islands.
What's to complain about? With all the wonderful cool weather, our electricity bills go way down due to not having to resort to using fans
or air conditioning!:-)

My place is cool year round up high on the mountain, I sleep under a comforter winter and summer and I reserve my right as a resident to COMPLAIN during the winter when it's so bloody cold that I have to wear a sweater and wooly socks to ward off the goosebumps and chllblains!!!!! :D:D

Judging by the lack of a follow up, I have to assume things went smoothly, correct? I'm just as curious as the OP.

Just for everyone's future reference, my experience with RentAMotion went well. Their Jeep wasn't "new", as their airport drop-off guy kept saying, but it was in very solid condition, very clean, and ran well. Oil and tires were fresh, which is much, much more than I can say for Budget (picked up a vehicle yesterday from Budget with 2 baldish tires, and the "better" 2 losing their tread).

Very quick pick up/drop off, cheaper than anyone else I could find (for Jeeps, at least), and removable soft top, which quite a few other companies don't allow.
