Renting a vehicle on STJ if under the age of 25?

I'm planning on visiting STJ at the end of August, and I was wondering if any of the rental companies will rent to people who are under the age of 25. I'm 24 and I'll be 25 a month after the trip. Do they simply not allow it, or will they charge an extra "penalty fee"?

Hi medster.

All rental companies must carry insurance and I believe their insurance forbids them from renting to anyone under 25.

I'm 24 myself and have been living on STT for the past few years and needed to rent a car on occasion for friends/work myself. Thrifty will rent to those under 25 for an extra $10 a day, they are located on STT. I know a few others do too; I'm forgetting who else. It differs state to state (NY/FL pretty easy, only extra fee for example, while others say no way) - best way is to directly contact the local rental agency you would be attempting to rent from - some are stricter than others. I'm in the same boat myself - very frusterating 🙂
