Renting car from Avis with "free upgrade" code

I've just reserved a car from Avis.com at STT airport from 1/22 - 1/30 (for a trip to St John). I reserved a "Full Size" car and used a "coupon code" that should entitle me to a free car-class upgrade - as far as I can tell this would land me in a "Standard SUV" which would otherwise cost $200 more. The terms of the coupon seem to include STT, but I've sometimes had problems renting from a big car rental company in small Caribbean locations where they might not honor the same deals/offers/terms that I'm used to getting at a major US city location.

Does anyone have experience with something like this, or advice on getting it to work?

Best advice is to call them directly and ask. So many "brand" coupons aren't accepted here by local franchisers.
