*we are coming off of Costa Magica into St. Thomas on March 22, 2006. Three adults and four children 14, 11, 5 & 4. Would like to hang out a beautiful beach/resort that has snorkeling, fishing, COCKTAILS, etc. We are willing to go to any of the islands to do this. What do you recommend, and how do we get there, and how much does in cost?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Melissa, A day off the cruise ship is a fairly tight schedule. For snorkeling, a beach bar, and beautiful beach I would try Coki Beach (they also have Coral World for the kids) or Saphire. I'm not sure about the fishing (most of the fish are so colorful I wouldn't want to catch them, but the fish at Coki will swim up to you wanting to be fed). On busy days Coki has servers who will get you drinks or eats from the vendor booths (they work for tips). Saphire you will have to go to the bar. These two are my favorites. You may decide to go to STJ but have less beach time because of travel time to and from.

Based upon your list, I agree with Scubado. Coki covers the majority of things you are looking for.

Melissa:

I vote for Coki, too.

Don't forget the braiders if you have girls and they haven't gotten braided on the ship yet. 🙂 Coki is a GREAT suggestion, there is also snorkel rental close by. You should have no problem getting there via taxi, just say Coki Beach! I think it would take you about 20 minutes from the Dock...anyone disagree? From what I remember the beach itself is free (although we did go late in the afternoon) and Coral world (a small but wonderful aquarium type park) admission was around $15-$20 a person. I don't think you will find any fishing in the USVI.

If you do opt for Coral World, they have showers, lockers and changing facilities. You can go in and out all day, very handy.
