Hi all... we are first time visitors and will be in STT Nov 13-19 to celebrate my 40th b-day. :$) I would LOVE any restaurant suggestions you all might have for a celebratory (?!) dinner on Friday night. Actually any other V.I. suggestions are most appreciated too! Thanks!

Well, we have LOADS of different restaurants here....everything from the beachside cafe, to fast food, to high-end (and price). Are you looking for a romantic spot? A party spot? A spot with a good view? Give us an idea of what type of place you're looking for and I'm sure you'll get many recommendations. Where will you be staying? Are you renting a car? This is more info to help us advise you...

Another VI suggestion....This is Fun! It's an awesome half day trip. Also, be sure to bring your passports and make a day out of the BVI aboard the New Horizons II BVI Fun!. On Wednesday nite, make plans to watch the sunset at Paradise Point Beautiful Sunsets!, then head to Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook for a good time in the parking lot Drinks!, oh I can go on and on!

What other kinds of things would you be interested in? Coral World? Atlantis Submarine? Casino? Shopping? Fishing? Give us some ideas and we'll load ya up with stuff to do!

For a fancy-schmancy celebration of the big 4-0, I would suggest the following (be sure to make reservations for a Friday night.)

Mafolie (just above downtown)

Banana Tree Grille (at Bluebeard's Castle just outside downtown)

Room with a View (at Bluebeard's Castle)

Agave Terrace at Point Pleasant resort (East End)

Blue Moon Cafe (at Secret Harbour Resort near Red Hook)

Robert's (at Elysian Beach Resort near Red Hook)

We celebrated my wife's 40th at the Banana Tree Grille. Wonderful evening! I called ahead and made the arrangements. They even suggested a local florist to provide a special table centerpiece (which I also called and arranged). When we arrived for our reservation, they immediately recognized that this was a special dinner and went out of their way to ensure that we had a great, memorable, time. Meal was terrific (best Key Lime Pie of our trip - and we had this dessert at every restaurant), the view is really special, and the service was perfect. Several other tables of diners stopped by because of the special centerpiece and wished my wife happy birthday - it was just perfect!

Can't go wrong if you choose this one!

Good Luck! Have Fun!

For a special occasion I highly recommend Craig & Sally's - I still dream about that place!! It's pricey but worth every penny.

My wife and I have taken the New Horizon Sunset Dinner Sail twice and have not regretted it. A full meal consisting of appetizers, main courses, deserts and all you can drink. It originates in St. Thomas and stops for pickups in St. John before heading out for a fun time.

Thanks for all the great info!
We are staying at the Morningstar Resort. Haven't decided on renting a car yet.. I have read a lot of good pros and cons on this subject here though! It is a girls trip (yay!) so shopping is a MUST! I read that the casino is on St. Croix... is it a hassle to get there?

Personally, I think it's a hassle to get to St. Croix. The easiest way (or least expensive) is by ferry.

The ferry is cheaper, but the Seaplane is SOOoo much better, IMHO. If you book it on-line, you can get it for #135 r/t, and it's only 18 minutes, vs. 100...if ya wana gamble, then Divi is for you....but we have loads of VLT machines that pay our real cash here on STT and they are quite popular, too...

Hey BillD,
Have you eaten at Shipwreck lately? I have and the burger was dried out, service was poor and to think an automatic 18% gratuity is required makes me think twice about going back.
