I've been watching airfare for our June trip and there is a fare out there right now that I like. It's $535 and we are flying from Salt Lake City. There is an issue though. The return flight departs at 8:40. We will be on St. John. Am I crazy to be considering this flight assuming the earliest ferry we can get on is the 6:00am? The Jeep rental company will meet us at the dock both upon arrival and departure and this is assuming everything will go smoothly. Would you even consider doing this or no way. I'd love to have your advice!!!

I'd do it but stay on St Thomas the night before your flight.

There's no way I'd be rushing to catch a flight that early from STJ. There'll be no time to mourn, if you know what I mean, and you'll be in shock once you are on the plane!

Agree with Lysa
You'll spend all week worrying about that 6 AM ferry. Why go on vacation to relax and enjoy island time only to get on edge and raise the blood pressure on your return?
Stay at BW Emerald Beach (right next to airport) or one of the smaller hotels/B&B's.

I agree with Chris.

The Best Western Emerald Beach has not always gotten positive reviews. But, we stayed there for a couple of nights last April & yes, it is no Taj Mahal - but, our room was fine & we loved that it was beachfront & we could hear the ocean as we went to sleep & when we awoke. Beautiful beach & beautiful pool that is right next to the beach & ocean. You can even use the pool late at night.

Not a bad way to spend your last nite before heading home!

And its close proximity to the airport can't be beat. You might even have time for one last walk along the beach!

Good Luck!

I am in agreement as well. I am always looking for a reason to extend my vacation so I can rationalize the extra $$ to do so and you have one! I would extend my vacation by one more day and book a room at the BW emerald beach. I have stayed there once and it was bad at all. All of the rooms have a beachfront view. You could veg out one more day with a couple of rum puches in hand. You would be able to get to the airport very quickly in the morning. Don't try to commute from STJ for that early of a flight. Thats too much stress to end a vacation with!

Thanks you guys! It was stressing me out just thinking about it. We will be staying one night in St. Thomas upon arrival since we will get in late. I LOVE the idea of staying the last night also. I can't believe the thought never crossed my mind. Thanks again!

One other possibility. There is a Holiday Inn right in downtown CA. Its not very nice -- but it would be in an area for last minute shopping and dinner.
