Hi guys,

I posted earlier aboout safe and easy snorkeling. Maybe a better question would be are there any snorkeling areas I must avoid due to strong currents? What are the really challenging snorkel areas I should avoid (on STT and STJ)? Thanks! And thanks for the replies to my previous post.

HI again-

Look above at the blue tabs for the various islands, click one and look at the menu bar on the left side of the screen and find the link for "beaches". If you click that, you will find details on each beach and the water at the beach (whether it is rough, calm, etc). You should probably print out each beach guide before you go. I have found the beach guides on this site to be perfectly accurate.

Also strong currents and riptides are occasionally present when there is a north swell. That means they tend to be on the north side of the islands. I know there are signs placed in the National Park warning swimmers, but for the most part, you would need to ask around at the beach if you aren't sure. And don't swim alone!
