I am going to be renting an apartment for the summer around Raphune Hill. I was told that there is a Safari stop just down the road. I will mostly be heading to downtown so do I wait for a certain line to come by or do they all run the same route? Is there a website where I can get additional information? Any advice would be helpful....also is this a safe part of town?
Thank you,
Joleen

They only go one way - from UVI, through town, east to Red Hook, and then on around back to town. If they see you standing anywhere along that road, on either side, they'll pick you up. They generally don't run past 7 p.m.

There isn't a website for them. They're all independent operators and drive when they feel like it.

If you're not directly on the main road, then it's a good, quiet area, I think. What's the estate name?

Raphune Hill is Estate Thomas New Quarter and it's a lovely area. I lived in a high spot right off the main road for ten years and it's a great location and very safe. You shouldn't have a problem getting used to the safaris but, as ms411 notes, they do stop running as night falls. Are you coming here to work for a month and working in town? If so, you may well get lucky and find someone who travels into town every day and would be willing to give you a ride as Raphune Hill is a main commuter link between country and town.
