Hi all-

My husband and I just booked a 7 night stay at the Sandcastle Hotel on JVD. I am wondering if anyone has any good or bad experiences about staying there??

we're booked for our 5th stay in march at Sandcastles !! we love this place ! the cottages are perfect, staff great, Mic the bartender is a delight and the beach is beautiful !! have you ever been to Jost ?? if so you know how very laid back it is. we do enjoy the dinners there but we usually only do 1 or 2 dinners at sandcastles , the rest we go elsewhere on the island. it makes for ..imo... a more unique, fun, evening. we always do Ivans BBq on thurs...great food, music, people ! we like Corsairs, Ali Babas, Foxys, Harris', Abes,Stanleys... on white bay venture down the beach for lunch at Gertrudes, Jewels and a must stop is Seddys One Love !! we've nly had good experiences at Sandcastles. this is a special place for people who like to relax, kick back and not have to "dress up". don't bring the high heels...shorts,tanks, bathing suits. are all you need. i take my shoes off when i arrive, unless hiking etc, put them back at the ferry to go home !! when are you going ?? it's very hard to get a week due to so many repeats. any specific questions just ask. also check this site www.traveltalkonline/ bvi forum... you'll get more info with the bvi group

Thanks for the responses Rody and lip. We booked it for the first week in November. We lived on St Thomas for 2 years and were lucky enough to make it to Jost a few times for the afternoon. Now we live in Ohio and just dream about our days in the islands. I am really excited about it!! Too bad it is so far away. We booked the MAP plan which includes breakfast and dinners. Do you suggest that we just book the cottage and then eat out and about??

many people do book the map plan.. we just don't like to tie ourselve to one place. we have so enjoyed dinners elsewhere, meeting new people, etc . some mornings i might not want a full breakfast ..... i know it's cheaper but i like to keep my options open at all times . in fact some of my more entertaining nights/dinners have been at Corsairs, Ivans and Abes. !! with some dancing at Foxys thrown in... it's always an adventure on Jost !!
