Are they a good deal? Hows the resort doing?

I have heard that the Resort is being restored and I will be on island for Christmas so I will look into it and report. Up to now, however, the place is in ruin....and has been for several years.

I would certainly not agree that the resort is in ruin -- It is not manicured but it is very clean and orderly.

Not in ruins by any stretch! Here's a link to the webcam for those of you suffering from the cold of winter!

When you ask about timeshare, if you are referring to Flagship when you mention timeshare then they are no longer exist.

If you are asking about the condos then they are far from ruin, and operating quite nicely.

I would hardly say in ruin. I was there in October and while there is great potential to make it a full service resort, the units are individually owned and the beach and dive shop are operable. The pool bar and restaurant are not open but was told they are in process. Investment wise I would imagine the place is on the rise.

I assume that you mean sapphire beach resort on STT by your comments on Red Hook. There are RUMORS that they will exit bankruptcy soon. If you bought timeshares you are out of luck. One timeshare owner was told that they never owned anything.

As far as the property is concerned it is limping along until they get out of bankruptcy. They will then own the common grounds (like the pool bar) and they hope to get things going again.

We wish them the best of luck. We cal want them back in full business.

The situation at Sapphire is complicated, but you have several things confused. The Condo Association is not in bankruptcy, and most likely will never own anything other than the condos the individual owners own. The buildings and individual condos are continuously being maintained, landscaped, rented, and improved.

The developer is insolvent but a first mortgage holder will take over the developer's interest when it goes through bankruptcy. At that time or at a time they deem appropriate the remainder of the property will be developed. It is also up to them as to what restaurants and stores will be open on the property.

The timeshare operation only had a few condos in it and the timeshare operation closed up some time ago.

thanks for the info.

And I never said that the association was in bankruptcy it has always been the land holder. I always knew that the common land holder (the one who owns the bar, lobby, tennis courts etc) was the problem.. The on;y exception was the pool which I believe is owned by the association and they did a great job in redoing it. . And you have to admit, as I look at the common buildings every day, that they are in great disrepair and the land holder will not do anything.

And I had thought one option would be for the association to buy out the land holder, however that would require an additional investment on the part of the condo owners, even if the property is valued a a very low number.

And it would be nice if Antilles would change their web page to tell renters what they will be getting into as the banana Cabana is the only food source.

And nothing is said about the situation on the web to let people know what is going on. And as far as the time share people are concerned we know of three people that bought at sapphire resort and ALL have been told they own nothing and their money is down the drain..

And I think we can all agree that we all hope that the property gets back to what it was at one time.
