I've heard that there has been a management change at Secret Harbour and that Ernest Halliday is no longer the general manager. Does anyone know where Ernest went? Is he still on-island?

Yes, managment change there, believe I heard about it back in December. Trying to apply stateside methodology. Not sure ow well that will work. We have not been back over because of the rules and regs for locals.

Just curious to know. What would that be?

What rules and regs for locals are you talking about?

Also curious. Are we to, maybe, assume it may have something to do with the locals who hang out at the bar at The Blue Moon?
Or the hoards of non-residents/non-hotel guests who descend upon the beach? I don't blame them...it IS beautiful.

Sad to say it but management is going to have to suck it up. In the Virgin Islands, those beaches, no matter what hotel owns it or operates off of it, it still open to the public.

Sorry for the late response. The new management does not encourage local residents to enjoy the beach there. Really patrol the area and their general attitude is to concentrate on their guests and maintain it for their guests,

That is fine, except the local residents are also PAYING guests in most respects, At this time my preception is they don't really care about us like in the past. Suspect that may change as summer approaches and they get more acclimated to island culture. They are trying to run this like a stateside resort and a bit too rigid in the approach. Hope they mellow out.

At one time the resort management allowed visitors (locals and cruise ship visitors) to rent lounge chairs. The chairs are now for owners and resort guests only. Is this what is upsetting you?

I think most if not all the units at Secret Harbor have individual, private owners - they likely have a board of directors and have association meetings that decide directives for management - this would be the probable source for any changes in policy - does anyone know if this is the case?? - I personally have not noticed any negative differences but I do always use my own beach chair from my car.

Units at secret harbour are privately owned. Chairs are available for rent for $5.00 with a ten dollar deposit. They rent them near the dive shop. I just got back from St. Thomas.

Well that's fine. They belong to them and they reserve the right rent them to who they feel like.

The thing about the beach always gets to me though.
