Has anyone used the sleep sofa in their unit? My kids would have to sleep on it for 4 nights straight, so I want to make sure it's comfortable. In our travels, we've experienced quite a variety of comfort levels in sleep sofas.

I have slept on the pull out sofa in our unit for a week straight and didn't have any problems.

Thanks, Hub. I didn't want my teens to be uncomfortable. I looking at switching from Secret Harbour to the Westin, where a villa came up.

Just curious but why would you switch from Secret Harbour on STT to The Westin on STJ? Isn't that rather comparing apples to oranges in so many respects and with all the subtelties missed?

Sorry, I'm not being combative, ,,,, just asking. Don't some of the STT Secret Harbour units have extra beds (either sleep sofa or basic foldouts?) Have you asked them? Just asking!

You've got a lot of variables to consider and you have teens?

You probably need to do some more basic research, ask some more questions, get more specific about the ages of your teens and let us know what they expect from this vacation. Cheers!

Since making my reservation at Secret Harbour, another web site I frequent has reported problems with some SH units being dated and rundown or problems with units not being available once you arrive. Everyone seems to like the beach. Reviews on the Westin mention poor customer service and poor food. The beach isn't that nice, but most like the pool and the villas. My teens rank a good pool and activities where they can meet others as being important to them. We've already got the 4WD rented and a list of all the great restaurants on both islands. St. John has a variety of snorkeling locations we can drive to.

What do you think of these observations? Can I mention that web site on this board?

Hello...I own weeks 34 & 35 in a 3BR villa at the Westin and personally think the service is great. The food, depending on where you eat (the hotel has a few different dining options) is actually pretty good. I don't think it's worth the money...but St. John is pricey, so that's the way it goes. Good news is that the grocery store is a 3 minute drive from the hotel and with a villa you have a full kitchen in which to cook any meal you choose. The sofa sleeper was actually pretty comfortable considering...not as comfy as the famous Westin Heavenly beds...but definitely more comfy than the average hotel bed. If you were to rent a 3BR villa you would have a private pool and spa...and every guest has access to the main pool. The beach at the Westin is nothing great...it's enjoyable, but not breathtaking like many other St. John beaches. Good news is that if the teens want some freedom, they can taxi to any popular beach and easily find a taxi home, as well (Trunk, Cinnamon, Hawksnest).

One other thing about the Westin is that some people have had trouble with things not going perfectly. I have found that when I had problems the staff would quickly and courteously rectify the situation. Just ask for compensation if something isn't to your expectations...the staff is usually able to accomodate. They gave us numerous free meal passes (roughly a $500 value) last summer when our room wasn't ready on time, and when we had a water leak which required us to relocate. If you feel inconvenienced, ask for compensation. The level of service is what made us feel comfortable purchasing a timeshare at the end of our stay. Problems will always arise and can be easily corrected; but the service accompanying the correction is what counts.

As a side note, I am renting out week 35 for a really great price: $3200. It is available September 1st through 8th of 2007. That's Labor Day weekend. It's one of the upgraded 3BR villas with every amentity available. It sleeps up to 10 (including sofa bed). There are two master rooms with king beds and a third room with two queen beds (great for the kids). If anyone is interested, please let me know.
