I was just wondering how long a ferry ride would be to go over to St. Croix and Beef Island from STT? Should we take a sea plane instead? We haven't been to either places and would like to go. If we need to take a sea plane, where do we make the reservations for this?

Thank you!

Sorry, I've never heard of Beef Island. The only small islands near STX are Protestant Cay, Green Cay and Buck Island.

Beef Island is where the airport on Tortola,BVI is located, the extreme east end of Tortola.
The ferry from STT to STX is one hour 15 minutes to one hour 30 minutes. STT to Tortola is much shorter depending on where you go, Sopers Hole or Roadtown. Cape Air flies to both locations.

First you need to know the geographical area and research the fllght options because you're thinking of going from A to B to C between US and foreign (BVI) territory,

Ferry to STX from STT may not be a viable option. I wish it were, it happens once in a while but I wouldn't rely on it and the seaplane is much more reliable. I believe there is a link to the seaplane operation on this forum.

If your base is STT then you can easily ferry to the BVI/ Tortola. Go to the top of this page and click on "ferry schedules" for information. Just know that, if you're a US citizen, as of January 2008 you will need to have a valid US passport in order to enter the BVI which is foreign territory.

Sorry to come off terse, just rather tired! Cheers!
