I've heard that Elizabeth's at the Palms is closing. Does anyone know if another restaurant is going in there or if Elizabeth's is going to be moving to another beach location close to Christiansted? We'll be there next June for a wedding and want to find a place with a casual but elegant atmosphere and live music. Elizabeth's looked perfect 🙁

We considered The Harbormaster but it would involve taking a party of 25 or 30 by boat over and back--not sure we want to do this since I've been told it would take several trips. I also think the Harbormaster BBQ may be a little too casual.

We want a place that has a full menu, servers, and steel pan or reggae music right on the beach and a short drive to Christiansted in case we need taxis to take people back to villas. We don't want to reserve a separate room (we see enough of each other at home LOL). We'd really like to find a place where we can join the crowd and add to the fun. Thanks!

I would try Karen at the beach shack at Gentle Winds. She is awesome and will do what ever you want. She did a pretty big wedding there 07-07-07 and did a great job. Gentle Winds has everything you need for a wedding.

Other possibilities are Duggan's Reef, the St Croix Yacht Club, H2O, Breezes, Sunset Grill and SandCastles.

And of course there are the Hotels. Divi Carina Bay, Carombola Beach Resort and the Buccaneer.

You might also try Island House Restaurant (340-773-2918) at Chenay Bay Beach Resort (340-773-2918). The location is just east of Christiansted. I attended a small wedding reception there and it was very nice. Beautiful sunset, good food and drinks, and attentive service. They seemed very accommodating. Best wishes on your upcoming wedding!

The rumor I heard this past weekend is that Elizabeth's is moving right next door to where H20 was at at The Hibiscus Hotel . . .

I've heard from pretty good sources that Elizabeth's is going in where the Chart House used to be (pre-Marilyn) attached to the King Christian Hotel in downtown Christiansted. Brian Bishop has already moved Crucian Gold out of there to make room for a larger dining area (like the original). Great location (for me, at least).

BUT - what's this about H20 closing?

I'll be there next week this time and report when I return.

I was told that the owner of the beach shack at Gentle Winds died and that it is being sold. Is that true?
