Does anyone know the current status of the St Thomas/St Croix ferry service? Frequent flyer miles only get me to St Thomas in November. It is less expensive to take the ferry than fly from STT to STX if it is running.

Thanks

The ferry has been out of service since last July 4 when it ran aground off St Thomas and there's little likelihood of its return any time in the near future, if at all. Your only option of travel between STT and STX is by air. Check Seaborne (the seaplane) and Cape Air. Both run regular flights between the two islands. The ferry service has been offered many times by many different companies but has never been a successful enterprise for any operator. The 40 nautical mile crossing is over open seas which are often very turbulent and resulted in the ferry crossing being known locally as, "The Barf Barge" or "The Vomit Comet"!

Thanks for the response. No question that we will be flying to STX. Thanks again.
