(this is Randa's message, it is being reposted; its a little lost where it is now)

My husband and I are planning to visit St Croix on 9/24 and are thinking about staying at the Buccaneer Hotel. We really want a little of everything: nightlife (happy hours & local music), golf, great beaches for snorkeling, volleyball, hangout with tourists & locals, etc. etc. The Buccaneer has a great room package and inexpensive golf that is what is driving us to stay there. However I'm worried we will be bored at night and thinking St Thomas might be a better choice. Originally we didn't want to stay on St Thomas because of how busy it is with cruise ships and tourists. Do you have any recommendations? Is there any real nightlife on St. Croix at this time of the year?

Thank you!

Randa

Well we would like to see local bands and do some dancing. Have drinks at casual beach bars and happy hours would be great. We're in our early 30's with no children so would like to hangout with people close to our age and party. We also love to play volleyball, do any of the beach bars have organzied beach volleyball games?

Check the schedule of what is happening at the Divi Casino.

They often have bands in the lounge and there is a small dance floor.

Duggans often has steel bands on Friday nights, but I don't know about September.

You can find all of that on either STX or STT. On St Croix you will find the beach volleyball and "hanging out" at one of several beach bars that are on the West End. You will find great oceanfront and music opportunities at several locations in C.Sted and the East End.

Obviously my "stxer" name would make you think I have "druthers". However from years past I found You will find a greater variety of night time social things on St thomas. BUT
you will also find a lot more cruise tourists...I hope that is always the situation...

Cheesburger's.....fun music and doing nothing...

Hello Randa,

Off the Wall is a neat casual bar... fun hangout. Rumrunners has a great happy hour. The Crab races at the Brew Pub would be entertaining, you can play and meet people. Casino for listening to music, dancing - they usually have live music... check the schedule as suggested. Hotel on the Cay just off the Christiansted Harbor (very short ferry ride) has a Caribbean show/bbq on Tuesday nights... and I think they have volleyball too - but don't know if they have set evenings for playing - something for you to look into.
