Is St. Croix a safe island? And what would be the best part of the island to stay on if you want to be away from the crowds.

Safe??? -- stay east behind locked gates for your home situation - don't associate with any locals - there will be no crowds but why would you choose to live that lifestyle unless you just want a place to hide??

Sorry Limin... some people are under stress these day. (Holy Crap! Exit Zero)

I live on Stx and feel very safe. Just don't be a drug buyer or dealer.

As for staying somewhere "out of the way" ...check out the Renaissance Carambola Beach Resort.
It's on the NW corner of StX...considered the "remote" area and the hotel itself is usually never where near full.
