Hi Folks,

Staying on the east end for a change this Fall. Would like some restaurant recommendations (and of course have already been to skinny's, Lucy's and Bordeaux).

Also in Coral Bay: The Donkey Diner, Aqua Bistro, Island Blues. Island Blues has recently changed hands and are just getting things back in full operation. The Sputnik Bar is a good place to stop for a drink and a very local experience. They sometimes have good local food (usually lunch) and sometimes have live music. Shipwreck and Island Blues also have music some nights. Also, the restaurant is open at Concordia.

There are a few truck/trailer operations at the triangle that serve good local food. The guys at Fire Foods were doing interesting stuff.

In the East End, Vie is open for lunch most days, but not all days.

Not sure when in the fall you will be here, but many restaurants are closed in September and even into October. You can find up to date information about the closings @ http://stjohnspice.com/stjohnrestaurants.htm

I have been keeping this secret to myself, but I've decided to share it. If you want some GREAT local food and company, stop by Sputnik's and talk to Julietta (the owner). To break the ice, we went to the end of the bar and bought a round for the few locals that were there. From that moment on, we were no longer tourists but travelors and were really embraced. We told Julietta we wanted some local food and we asked about Hercules in Cruz Bay. She invited us back several nights to Sputnik's where she made us conch roti, bullfoot soup (completre with tripe), saltfish and johnny cake, whelk tails (bought in by Aubrey, landlord of Sputnik's), guavaberry wine, etc. Many of the meals required special shopping and much preparation. We stayed a week in Coral Bay to experience local life and we had the best time there. We made life long friends. They do not normally cook or have a regular menu there. Julietta was great! I will attach a few pics of our times at Sputnik's.
