We are Island hopping for 9 days and St John is always our favorite stop to end on when we are in the Virgin Islands. We are taking some first timers with us and need a place for 2 nights for 8 people (4 couples) on St John and would prefer not to stay at a high priced resort. We want to stay on the Cruz Bay side of the Island instead of Coral Bay side. Looking for an off season deal. Thoughts???
(Aug 20 & 21).

Best advice in my opinion is to go to www.vrbo.com which will quickly narrow down the options based on the parameters you enter - location, price, beds, etc.

I would think 2 nights is going to be tough for anything other than an inn or similar. The Inn at Tamarind comes to mind.

A hotel would be your best option.
Most villa rentals have a 3-4 day min. off season.

True, but there is sometimes a reservation gap which owners are happy to fill even for a couple of nights so it's always a good idea to ask even if the terms state a minimum reservation. I know a few owners on STT who'll do it and particularly off-season.

I have been looking for one night stay in SJ in September for two during our week in STT just so we can spend two beach days in SJ easier. The Westin can be had now for $268 per night, and st john guest suites has some real nice options for about the same price, but they only have four accomodations total. But it looks very nice with great reviews and they do have openings. Their website is stjohnguestsuites.com.

This is probably too late for the original poster but there is also a boutique hotel in Cruz Bay:

For most owners a 2 or 3 night stay doesn't work because by the time we pay the utilities and management/maid service there is no profit. I'll do less than a 4 night stay if the guests pay for the cleaning. Many do, but for the same amount they could stay in a hotel.
