Hello

My wife and I will be going to St John July 27-Aug 2 and we are looking for a nice, clean place to stay. We are travelling with our 9 month old daughter so we will not want to have to drive too much. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

What type of accomodation are you looking for?? There are only two hotels/resorts - Caneel Bay and the Westin. There are a few inns and many villas. What type of place are you looking for and when you say you don't want to drive much does that mean you want to have beach access immediately available - if so then your choices become sort of limited to the hotels.

Hello Islander

I like Westin Resorts but I have heard that the water at the Westin St John stays cloudy, have you heard this?

Also, I check rates daily at the Westin and I am waiting to see if they run specials for low season. Do you know if/when they do as well as Caneel?

Thank you.

Go to www.caribbeanvilla.com. We were on St. John from December 2 - December 11th for our wedding & stayed at the Tennis Villa/Tennis Cottage. The villas on www.caribbeanvilla.com are gorgeous & inexpensive (far less than the Westin or other hotels). Lots of privacy & most have pools, hottubs, bath & beach towels, etc....all of the things that a hotel has. We will only spend our vacation money on St. John & won't use anyone except Caribbean Villa anymore.

Let me know if you need any car rental contacts, etc.

Good Luck!

Hello,

When you say water stays cloudy - is that tap water?? or the beach?? I am assuming you mean the beach - in which case no I don't think its cloudy all the time its just not as crystal clear as other beaches around the island. The beach itself is nice but not as WOW as some of the others.

Caneel Bay, Westin ... all the resorts/hotels will have off season prices.

We've just returned from our second year in a row on St. John. We have 3 kids ages 9, 7 and 4 (and this year we traveled with our 2 year old niece as well). We have found renting a house is the way to go both money wise and to accomodate kid schedules - we use and really recommend bookitvi.com - run by Bill and Cathy Dove and their daughter Kristi. They are terrific from beginning to end - thoughtful, organized and really nice - we can't say enough. Have a wonderful trip!

Hello Teamott,

Glad you had a great time - where did you stay and how would you rate it? Any suggestions for kid friendly activities and restaurants that you went to? Which beaches were your favorites? Did you rent a car - how was that? Any other tips or opinions!

Thanks,

--Islander

Hi Kristi:

We have Tennis Villa rented for a week in May. What did you think of it? We were told that all of the rooms (including pool house) were pretty comparable. Is this true? Any suggestions for us in relation to the house? We do not have the cottage rented. Any info you can provide on the house would be great! We are anxiously awaiting our trip as we've had the house rented since last August!

Thanks,
Sunshine
