We are sailing on the Carnival Glory to St Thomas in April. We are planning to go to St John and do a tour. I understand that it is possible to do a 2 or 3 hr tour by taxi from Cruz Bay. Does anyone know the route that the taxi travels for both the 2 & 3 hr tour? What extra things are done on the 3 hour tour? We do not plan to spend a lot of time at a beach since we are going to have a beach day in St Martin at Orient Beach. We would like an overview tour of the island stopping at points of interest and viewing opportunities. It would be nice to go to some beaches and maybe walk in the water for 15 mins. Would we have to pay to go into Trunk Bay beach just to take pictures while on tour?

Has anyone done a similar tour?

We hope to get back to St. Thomas to take the tram ride up to Paradise Pt. before getting back to the ship.

I'd suggest stopping at hawksnest and by passing Trunk In my opinion the views are better and you won't have to pay all the beaches along north shore road are great.
Have fun
Tom

Most of the island of St. John is National Park, so that is what you'll see on the tour. Those of us who vacation regularly in St. John have gotten quite used to the cruise traffic touring the island in big taxis. The tours go along the North Shore and stop at pull-over points along the road. You'll be able to take great pictures at the pull-over points. I'd suggest sitting on the left side of the taxi for the best view.

Thanks for your replies. I am looking forward to our time on St John. According to postings on the forums, I think of all our ports, that I would probably want to come back to St John to stay longer.
