Now that we have this beach thing squared away. We have decided on where we want to stay. It is st john. We have been to other parts of the caribbean, but not here. We are rookies once again and we are looking for a nice place for about 7 people 450-500 per night. We are not renting a car, so we will be cabbing it a lot or jogging.

You may want to check out www.VRBO (short for Villa rental by owner). Most villas don't rent for less than a week.

are you staying less than a week? If not, some of the agents have their websites designed so you can search by price range and see what fits.

Ok, take this as my "just looking at pictures" opinion. I have never seen this house in person.

First, the pool looks great....it s large and overlooks the bay on two sides. Nice feature.

I then looked at the pool furniture and it is decent...not great. I tend to find that those kind of chairs (at the patio table - not sure what to call them) get hot in the sun. But, it is better than plastic. The lounge chairs look pretty good.

The home looks older. What I see as a drawback is that it is more enclosed than I like. It looks like the windows aren't plentiful and are louvered. I don't see any large sliding doors.

Ok, so the house isn't what I would choose, but I wouldn't *mind* staying there.

Then I looked at the price. Too high for that home, IMO. Do you really need 4 bedrooms?

my 1st suggestion...IMO... RENT A VEHICLE !!! been going to st.john for yrs and depending on a taxi would drive me crazy. driving the island..to me.. is part of the adventure..to be able to explore on my own time/to stop and go as i please.to sample different beaches. to get back and forth to cruz bay and coral bay.taxi's won't do it and the bus line between the 2 is not really on time.if you rent in the cruz bay area getting a cab is not too much of a problem/in fact some evenings we prefer such if we're out partying/also parking can be a nightmare in town.check this site for villas..have rented with them for yrs with excellant results and have stayed in some beautiful villas www.caribbeanvilla.com some we like : Ixora, Ciellodonna,Dolphin Run,LeLapin II , all listed w/caribbean villas. some other companies -- www.destinationstjohn.com -- www.suitestjohn.com --www.cateredto.com , all are very good rental agencies w/wonderfull villas and condos. good luck...and re think the car..we had one for 7/no problem..you won't regret it !!!
