My wife and I are in the planning stages of our vacation to St. John for next summer. We have narrowed our decision regarding a vacation rental down to the following properties: Cloud Nine, Paloma Blanca, Altamira, Odessa, and Reef Bay View. However, to get even this far involved very difficult choices since all of the vacation rentals on St. John are fabulous. As such, we need help. Any information that anyone can provide about any of those five properties, pro and con, will be helpful and much appreciated. Thanks.

Haven't stayed at the others but have stayed at Cloud 9 -- and going back this Thanksgiving -- and loved it. Terrific view, great pool and a great deck.Very comfortable for 4 adults and a couple kids. Got great late day sun -- so after a day at the beach your pool is still warm and sunny.
Only note: the loft bedroom is not equal to the others -- kids didn't mind -- but staircase is scary/hairy for a young kid.

Dear Kincannon, my wife & I just returned from the Westin in St. John. We have been to Cancun, Cabo St. Lucos (southern tip of Baha Mexico), Jamaica & Aruba to name a few. All at very beautiful (five star) resorts. All time share with multiple rooms, equipped kitchens & lots of amenities. Including St. John I'd have to say all of them are, of course fabulous. It's like picking out your favorite ice cream! But I must admit, the Westin in St. John is the most beautiful place we have ever been. The 40 plus acres that makes up the Westin takes the lion's share of the beach in Great Cruz bay. The grounds are breath-taking. the pool is gorgeous & huge ( a quarter acre), etc. Our 3 bedroom villa had it's own private pool with water fall (the unit is 3,000 sq. ft. !!!). We ended up buying a week of time share there & can refer you. They will offer you (at no pressure) a week in probably a one bedroom at $800.00) a fraction of what it normally goes if you are willing to sit down for a time-share presentation while you are there. Let me know if you are interested. Sicerely, Bob P.S.- We heard the Marriot on St. Thomas was thilthy & talked to people who stayed at Canneel Bay Resort on St. John. Although they very much enjoyed their stay they seemed quite let down by the simplicity of the rooms (very plain).
