My, wife and I are travel to St Thomas next week, leaving the bitter cold of the Midwest behind!!! Yeah!! We are staying at the Marriott Frenchman Reef. I’m just starting my research on what to do and would like some recommendation on the following

Grocery stores
Restaurants
Nightclubs
Day trips

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

We are going in April and cant decide if we want to stay at the Frenchmans reef or the morning star. Write back and let us know which would be the better of the two once you return! Have fun and enjoy!

Scottie: The closest grocery is Gourmet Gallery in Havensight, although there is a 24 hour convenience ($$$) store at the Reef. Re: your other questions- can you be more specific about your interests? There are lots of restaurants from funky to upscale. Also what are you looking for in the way of a nightclub, day trips?

The properties are really two resorts spread out over a big chunk of land. Great sunset view and fun watching the cruise ships passing by early in the morning and again in the evening. You can take a water taxi to the waterfront for your shopping.

Thanks East Ender for your reply! Restaurants: looking for mainly Good Food, but would like good views, good service, good happy hours. Med-upper scale restaurants. How about liquor stores?
Nightclubs: something for the 30's age. Nothing too techno.
Daytrips: thinking about a snorkling trip, day out on water, traveling to other islands (ie-St. John's)

Scottie: OK!
Restaurants: (IMHO) Good views: Banana Tree Grill, Mafolie, Oceana (before sunset). Good food and service: Old Stone Farmhouse, Craig and Sally's, Bella Blu, Randy's (none of these have a view.) Also- try something local like Cuzzin's. There is a new restaurant at Morning Star- Havana Blue. I have not been and have heard only one review which was good.
Nightclubs: (not my forte and you will find a bigger mix of ages probably) Close to the Reef- Off Shore Bar. Also the GreenHouse, Tommy Bar downtown. Check the Island Trader ( published Thursday) or the Weekend section of the Daily News (Friday) or talk to the concierge about special stuff going on.
Liquor stores: K-Mart.
Day trips: There are probably trips you can take from the Reef, ask at the Adventure Center. People here like New Horizon, but I also think you should look at Pirate's Penny/Stormy Petrel for a BVI day trip. You can take a ferry or a sail boat to St John.

Hello Scottie,

Restaurants with a view - Banana Tree Grill & Room with a View... both are at Bluebeards Castle Resort. Herve's has a nice view also. You might try Epernay & Stereo in Frenchtown for drinks/dancing. Greenhouse has a good happy hour. Check out the section on attractions and day trips under the St. Thomas link at the top of this page. There is also a beach guide.
