I see that the Starfish Market is now a goumet market. Is it still in the same place, with some changes? We will be down there in June again and shopped a little there last time for incedentials. How does Luv City Market compare to Starfish?

Starfish Gourmet is a new market and is not the same as Starfish market. They are across the hall from each other at the Marketplace, so no worries. You can still do all your shopping at the market.

The new gourmet has a very good slection of wine and cheeses
Yes they cost a little more than what you find in the states - (depending on the state you live in) but all in all I found their prices fair.

As in restaurants - the wines on the lower end of the price spectrum appear to have a slightly larger mark up.

For example if your favorite wine is $7.99 a bottle at home - It will probably be $9.99 in STJ
But a $24.99 bottle of wine the price is the same or just a dollar more.
We were exicited that we has such a wonderful choice of goodies

For those who like wines on the high end
they also have 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild - Pauillac, and if I remember correctly the cost was $1600 a bottle, which is a steal at that price - google it and I think you will have a hard time finding any 1982 and if you do it will be over $2500

Suffice it to say - Starfish Gourmet is a nice addition to the island and like everything else on an island - there are very few deals
But we are very glad they are there

We were just there last week and what a welcome addition to the island. Starfish market is still where it always was the new gourmet market is across the hall and definately worth the time if you want good wines, gourmet cheeses, and hard to find gourmet items. Also note that Starfish market used to sell liquor, they no longer do in their store it's now in the Gourmet market across the hall. As for Starfish or Love City. Starfish for the bulk of your shopping and then if you run out or need something and don't want to drive to Cruz Bay go to Love City or even Lucy's in Cocoloba plaza. Hope this helps. Jill
