Does anyone know of any "Steel Bands" to see on St. John?

We are arriving on June 4th. Where will the bands be playing? What is Panorama? What is the cost? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Kris
Panorama is a competition of various Steel Pan bands from numerous islands but predominantly STT. The bands include school, club and private associations. The event is held in Cruz Bay adjacent to the park (can't be missed) and is free to the public. The music is fantastic, food is wonderful and the experience helped make our last trip all that much better.
I believe it starts around 2 PM and goes until just after dark but check the times when you get there.

Hello Mike

I am not sure if there are any regular performances scheduled for pan bands on STJ except for the Panorama. Having said that, they are probably getting ready for June 4th so something might be available. You might have better luck on STT.

Have you anything to add?

The Love City PAn Dragons are the only ones I know of over there. You might be able to catch them in a practice session. They will have just competed in St. Thomas the week before you arrive and won't again until the last week of June.
Check with Lenyse, the manager at Starfish, when you arrive and see if she can tell you their practice schedule. I know she is involved with them as Starfish as well as our Rotary Club in St. John support them.

Here is the Pan Dragons web site: http://www.pandragons.org/.
There is an e-mail, perhaps drop them a note and ask about performances and watching them practice.
