Sherb-
Absolutely wonderful trip report, and photos. From the villa pics', to the great snorkel pics', to you and your gang on the beach, and then home to your lovely children-Loved it, loved it , loved it!!! I'm a Philly boy, and was brought up in Jersey. I can't tell you how many times my folks had my 6 brothers and sisters, and I singing "On the way to Cape May"! I've been to STJ several times, and you gave me a new goal; find that picnic table over Waterlemon! Thank you so much for your time , putting your report together.
I'm happy that you enjoyed STJ. As you've witnessed, it's quiet, yet exciting with its' brilliance.
Thanks again, Sherb.
Smiles-
MJ

And don't forget "Oh, those Wildwood Days!"

I love trip reports, but they only make me more determined to get back asap.

NO!

Not the Jersey Shore

34 years ago I went to Cape May for the Summer!
Yep boot camp :$) 😮 :S

I swore I would never go back! I had a lot of fun on the beach! It is amazing how lonely it can be at 2am
oops I mean 0200 😉

Many moons go by....
My son after going to school, living in STT, working on a school ship in NC (plus other adventures) decided to join the Coast Guard.
Mom and Dad were very happy!

Then the realization... My wife will want me to take her to graduation in...... yep Cape May 😮

My wife and son gave me a hard time and said I was making a big deal about nothing. OK...

Well his graduation day came. Mom, girlfriend, and Dad go up the night before and stay in Wildwood.
(remember Ed Zabers? oops that is another story)

Early in the morning we had to that place .... USCG Recruit Center - Cape May.

Definitely brought back some memories. :$)

Great Graduation Ceremony all was great
Everybody smiling and happy!

Ceremony over - the boy walks over kiss mom and girlfriend turns to me and says "We can take them out to lunch and then we out of this place - FOREVER!" With objections from wife and girlfriend - I followed my son's direction and left the state at a high rate of speed!

We had songs about Cape May - But not sure the words are appropriate here *-)

Tom, you'd be surprised how much Wildwood and Cape May have changed. You'd also be surprised how many people are opting for a two hour trip to these destinations as gas prices soar.

Coast Guard Center still going strong down there!

Last visit was Jan 2007 for son's big day

It looked very nice - and would recommend it to all that have not been there as part of the experience to stand in ocean at 2 am being yelled for what seemed like forever while holding all of their clothes in sea bag above there head so they would not get wet. Only to return to lovely living spaces provided and find that it ihas been filled with sand a sea water. Full inspection scheduled for 7 am.

I loved my time in USCG and my son appears to really be enjoying. It is very rewarding and I think it was one of the most professional organiztions I have ever been affilated with - But Cape May is not my kinda town.

My son agrees 😉

Cruz Bay is worth every penny for Gas
Nobody screams out you!
