Asking specifically about last week of August.
Assume can expect a bit more humidity and outside chance of hurricane. Are tropical systems more likely to park over Caribbean and bring days of rain? More buggy in August?
Also, when do restaurant closings happen?
THANKS

Hello jmq,

Its pretty humid already and August is usually more so. There is a greater chance of rain in August then say February but as far as August's lineup during our rainy months... it falls in 4th. The order is November, October, September then August. August and September are the months with highest hurricane/storm activity historically and storms often send some rain our way when passing through the area. If it rains then yes it will get buggy... no rain and it may not be but there will still be some.

A couple restaurants close, some for 2 weeks, others longer... its during September that I have noticed a few closings.

The past few years we have found that certain restaurants close for a couple of weeks starting in mid August and continuing with some of them closing in September. The Lime Inn has closed for the last couple of weeks usually beginning around the 13th or so of August. Woody's closed for a week last September (around the 1st week). Chilli Billy's was closed in August but I think it was just for some renovation and not Vacation. A few of the restaurants have websites which they post when they will be closed so you can make planty of other arrangements. We have always found that there are plenty of other alternatives despite a few that may not be open. That's the drawback of going in August but do not let it deter you. It's the only time my family can go as well.

Hope this helps

I should have added this but I probably have ADD and posted with out reading the whole question.

The past 3 years when we were on STJ in August for a number of weeks, we have had no problems with rain or Humidity. Yes you do get your 10 minute daily shower but that's pretty much it. It has also showered at night but many times the sun will be out as it's raining. I can remember only one day where it wasn't Sunny and beautiful.

2 Months from today and we'll be back taking it in once again -but then again who's counting.

I live for this
