Hi everyone,

I got married on STJ last year and was thinking about getting my husband a nice print or photo of Trunk Bay for our anniversary, which is May 13 (I know, I procrastinated!).

Can anyone recommend where I could find something like this? Is there anyone on island that you would recommend contacting or should I just try to find something online?

Please help, I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks,
Kristie

A suggestion, Find a photo you like on line. There are many of Trunk Bay. Go to the public areas on sites like photobucket or webshots. Save the picture to your computer and then burn it to a CD. Take it to a good photo shop and they should be able to make you what you want fairly cheap. Make sure you pick a nice clear shot. I have had 8x10's done like this and they came out awesome. Did it myself at CVS no less. Ready same afternoon. Good Luck,

BOB

Also be kind enough to ask the persons photo you select beforehand if it's alright.

I strongly object to Bob's suggestions to just download, burn a CD and print someone else's photo of Trunk Bay!

I am a serious hobbyist and that would be a violation of my copyright. However, if someone would like to use my photo and give credit to me as the photographer, or would be willing to pay for it, I would likely grant the permission. I don't want to have to lock all my photos posted online to prevent the type of piracy Bob suggested.

I think some people worry too much. This is a simple photo that she would like to give her husband for an anniversary. She's not going to be seeling it, or publishing it somewhere else. She's just putting it into a frame as a nice present to her husband. That's IF she evens does it.

If you were an artist, would you like your works taken without permission??

Church...to tell you the truth...if it's used the way psu intends to use it, no...i couldn't care less. Also keeping in mind that suggestions such as webshots and photobucket would be somewhere she's going to go to look for the pictures. My opinion, but this is no big deal. No money is being gained off it.

Church - rest assured, IF (and that's a big IF) I decided to use someone's photo, I would most certainly ask them for permissions beforehand. I wouldn't just go and take something and pass it off as my own. That is really why I was looking at possbily purchasing a photo so I void avoid any possible copyright infringements. I may just go through my own photos and see if I have anything that I shot and avoid the whole situation.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Kristie, please help your self to any of my pictures at http://www.pbase.com/Bill_l
As it says on the main page make sure once you select the pic that you choose the "original" before saving it. The original pic is larger and will make a better quality pic when enlarged.

For everyone else, if you publish pictures on the internet and don't want them copied then do your homework before uploading them. There are a number of ways to protect your photos.
Geeez what's happening to this board????

I have quite a few on pbase also and have never minded if someone uses one for whatever. I just think it's polite to ask beforehand. I know I would.

How nice of you to offer up your photos, Bill. I took a peek at them, and they are beautiful shots. We're counting down to our upcoming trip and have no shots of our own from last trip since digital camera decided to call it quits during that vacation! 🙁 But seeing yours sure helps us envision being in paradise again. Maybe I'll use one as a screen saver... with your permission of course. 😉

allposters.com has them. They do a nice job framing and shipping of high quality prints. If you pull something off internet for printing, likely to be pretty grainy at 8x10 or more.

If link to the STJ gallery doesnt come up, in search box put "Trunk Bay" and you should get at least 3 pages of prints/posters.

Thank you all for you help & ideas - they were great. I was looking through the photos that I took last year and found a few that I might use. They were better than I thought, and much cheaper. Plus, it will be more meaningful since I was the photographer.

Thanks again everyone!!

Hey gang, I certainly did not intend to suggest you steal something from someone. It is my understanding that when you post onto the PUBLIC section of the web pages I refered to that you agree, before posting that you give up your copy right privlidges. I could be wrong but that is what I got from reading the "Terms of Use" agreement. I posted some photos here and could care less who copies them. If I did I would not post them on the "Public Section" but instead would post them on the coprighted section where reproduction is prohibited and infact prevented by encoding. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Just trying to help someone in a small way.........
