I am considering going to STT and staying at the Marriott Frenchmans Cove either using Marriott points or I may try one of their vacation packages where a part of it includes a presentation on their time shares. I would greatly appreciate any comments and opinions on this property. Also, any issues with visiting in February?
Thanks
Randy

Frenchman's Cove is a great place to stay. The villas are only a few years old and each one has a water view.. Plenty of parking. They are still under construction though(till 2012), but not enough noise to be bothersome . The infinity pool is very nice and their beach(Evening Star beach) is ok for snorkeling but not so much for swimming, due to the coral and rocks that are a few feet off the beach. There are spots to the right and left that are coral free where you can walk out to swim. They're currently rebuilding the dock, so you wont be able to use that side of the beach. You also have use of all the facilities and beach(Morning Star beach very nice)at the Marriott Hotel next door. I own at Frenchman's Cove and pretty much use it as a home base to explore the other beaches on St Thomas and St John. The only issue I can see for visiting in February(Prime time) would be the many cruise ships that are in that time of year. I'll be there in March, can't wait.

We just returned from the Cove. It is a wonderful property. It was so nice to have room for all three of my grown daughters and to have the full kitchen and laundry. We were there as part of the vacation club promotion. It was nice to have covered parking and access to the other properties.

beachmom,
Thanks for the reply. We are also considering doing vacation club promotion. How was the presentation? Was it a high stress sell or more laid back? Did it really only last 90 minutes?
Thanks
Randy

Frenchman's is a great full service location. The only problem is that the beach is a little hike from the rooms. But it is worth the trip.

Hi Randy,
We stayed at the Frenchman's Cove in June and it was amazing! I have been a Marriott Timeshare owner since 1985 and I can tell you that the presentations always last more than 90 minutes! My advice to you, if you are really not interested, but just want to take advantage of the great promo, don't look interested and don't ask any questions, then it might go faster. We have been on alot of the presentations, but I didn't go on one in STT - I didn't want to waste any of my vacation, since I was only there 7 days.

May I ask about the Vacation Package Promo that you are referencing? How did you get it and how much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking? I know sometimes, as owners, if we refer a friend, a promo is offered, just wanted to know about it, I might be interested myself, becasue I really would like to go back again for a visit!!

Thanks,
Nancy 🙂

Nancy,
Thanks for the feedback.

Marriott always seems to have some promotion going on at various locations. Just log on to marriott's site and click time share vacations, then vacation specials. Here is the link, http://marriott-vacations.com/vacation/resorts.html

We were looking at renting a villa there in Feb also. Are they quite a ways from the main lobby and restaurants? My husband is afraid they might be too isolated. Couldn't tell from the pics how bad the hike would be to the pool or bar/rest. or do they golf cart shuttle you around?

Another place to check out is
www.vrbo.com

You can rent your own condo or house from a private owner probably for a better price and really get a good feel of the islands!

Actually I think I could stay in a shack and still find fun and relaxation on STT. I just remember the first time I came here it was to "try out" a timeshare at Bluebeard's Beach Club and the "presentation" went on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever....

ssseeker,
No, we didn't feel they were isolated at all. Our pool was just off the elevator, and a few steps away. And the ocean was right off the pool. There is a great snack bar at the pool and full bar. The other restaurants are at the main hotel, which they provide a free shuttle, every 15 to 30 min. At the main hotel you can also order food from the swim up bar and they will deliver to you at the pool. My daughter ate at Havana Blue and said it was amazing!!! Inside the hotel there is spas, and shopping, etc. There is also a dock there where we were picked up for a snorkel trip. You could literally just stay on the grounds for the whole week and between the 3 resorts, with free shuttle between them, you will never run out of things to do. Then everything else is just a taxi ride away!

Enjoy!
🙂 Nancy
