Hello All,
I have some general questions concerning trip planning for St. Croix. We (myself, hubby and daughter) will be there June 17 to 24. I am planning our itenerary now and am wondering about when I need to make reservations for different things. I am currently checking out rental cars and will reserve that as soon as I get the rates. But as far as things like a trip to Buck Island, dinner reservations, etc., how far in advance do I need to go? We plan on exploring the island on our own, so really the only organized tour we're looking at is the Buck island trip. Some background details: We're staying at the Divi. We are celebrating our daughter's 8th birthday, my 40th, and our 15th wedding anniversary that week. A while back, I posted about things to do and the response was awesome! I hope we can fit it all in one week!
Thanks in advance for your help.
Terri

The sooner you book a reservation the more likely you'll get what you want. if you want to wait, just be prepared to be flexable. Now is not too soon for June IMO.

I'm just 48 hours back from my 28th trip to STX. I was able to book Tan Tan Tours (more in a separate post later) on a Saturday for Monday, Big Beard appeared to be taking reservations for Buck Island on relatively short notice. The pigs at the Domino Club were apparently in rehab, as there had been no beer delivery!

Hey Joanne, As far as the beer delivery for the piggys, was it just the n/a beer for them or did the whole island have a beer shortage. Last year when we were there, the ship that brings in the Carib was late for it's delivery. There wasn't much of it available in stores or at the bars. We are going back in June again and hope to have a few cold Caribs

I sure didn't notice a beer shortage on St. P's day!!!! No, I believe it was just the NA beer, and possibly just the delivery to the Domino Club. We just joked that the pigs were probably in rehab.

For those who don't know, Buster (the first pig at the Domino Club) drank real beer (that had to have been ugly) but, since he's shuffled off to that great pig sty in the sky, his wife and offspring now drink NA beer and don't seem to notice the difference.

Does that mean you're posting a trip report? I hope so!! Actually, any STX stories or info makes me feel closer and closer to our trip this June. You've been there on 28 trips?? That makes you an expert!! What keeps you going back year after year??

I promise to post a detailed report including Tan Tan Tours as soon as I finish excavating my desk. For the time being let me just say that the Annally Bay tidal pools were worth the price of admission all on their own!!!!

Linda J - I missed seeing you too! It was so hectic as we hadn't been in a full year (normally going in October as well, but that was when we visited our niece in Spain).

More later!

wife and i will be in stx late june also. this will only be our 4th trip there, so we are not experts, but we love it. been to domino's several times, i remember when the pigs were not drinking the n/a beer. not familiar with the tidal pools, would like the hear more about them. is this the pools you can hike to from carambola resort?

I'd like to add that you should definately call for a reservation for eating out at night. I've done it both ways and a reservation is usually preferred. If you are travelling from the Divi, it would be nice to know you didn't make the drive for nothing.

My husband and I just returned from STX, our first visit. It was awesome and we will definitely take the whole family next year. Reseravations for car rental were great with Judiofcroix.com
and dinner reservations at the Sandcastle for dinner need to be made early in the day. Other than that we did everything we wanted and loved the island. We golfed 3 times, did the beaches and drove most every road on the island. I am envious that you are going. You will love it.
