Taxi St.Thomas to Red Hook looking for advice

Arriving in St. Thomas on May 1 aboard Serenade of the Seas and would like to take taxi to Red Hook to catch ferry from Red Hook to St. John. Should I reserve a taxi ahead of time or are there plenty of taxis at the cruise dock area. Ship departs at 5 PM what is the recommended time that I should plan to leave St. John and are their taxis at Red Hook so returning won't be an issue or should I book a taxi ahead of time. Thanks for your input.

No need to book taxi ahead of time as there are PLENTY of taxis on both STT and STJ. You should plan to be on the 2 o'clock boat back to STT so you'll have plenty of time to make your 4:30 boarding.
