My hubby and I will be in St. Thomas over Thanksgiving. We have been to USVI MANY times, but never over Thanksgiving. Where would you recommend we dine on Thanksgiving?

Thanks.

One place that puts on a pretty good spread is Molly's.

I'm going to the Toad & Tart....STT Resident owns the place and I've always been enamored with her meals...I'll bet T-day will be no different!!

What is so exciting about the menu? We drive by that place pretty much every time we go to St. Thomas and never seem to try it.

Also, what is the story on El Cubano? 🙂

Here's a link: The Toad & Tart And she will update it with the T-day offerings soon..

El Cubano is a whorehouse, so you probably don't want to visit there on your vacation....I mean, it's a bar, too, but the ONE time I went there, before I knew any better, the place was completely empty, but I ordered a beer at the bar anyway...by the time it came, there were four women competing for my 'business'....to 'go out back, ya know?'....I declined politely and have not been in there since....but they do a brisk business, that's for sure....

I should probably not go into the El Cubano routine except that I feel almost compelled to defend this longtime institution. It's NOT a bad place per se. It's not a druggie hangout and it's not a whorehouse (sorry Marty but I have to disagree! ) Yes, there are ladies of the night there and they're illegal immigrants who are just trying to make a living but they're very savvy where safe sex is concerned.

The couple who own it make no pretense where their place is concerned and they live on property. A couple of years ago, the husband was taking out the garbage and some thugs took advantage of the open back door, tore in and terrorized the co-owner lady who was already asleep, went with all their meager income and mashed up the owner a bit.

Did he or his wife leave or give up?

Of course not.

Cheers!

Sorry, Res, but when a lady (and I use that term loosely! Haha!) offers to take you out back, into one of the bedrooms on property, and give you sex in exchange for money, THAT is a whorehouse! You think the owners aren't aware of the bedrooms out back?? C'MON!

This IS my opinion, but I also believe that it is fact, too...and, safe or not, I'm not putting any part of MY body into that breeding ground for disease! I don't care how many condoms I'm wearing! Can you go there just to drink and play pool? Sure...but, most folks on this island would think you were doing something differently if your car was spotted in the parking lot...
