hello all...
after posting my pics up and also browsing back through other peoples snaps, most recently beer hunters brilliant pics and commentary, i just thought it might be nice to have a thread about taking pics on holidays...there seems to be a lot of keen amateurs out there and questions on equipment and cameras used, where to get the best views on the islands etc etc
also lots of folks seem to have albums on photobucket or similar and have traveled far and wide with great pics to show for it....
and how about a caption contest (in the same vein as the KC tshirt slogan 'contest' maybe? lol)
anyhoo, just a thought...anyone interested?
I am glad that you liked my pictures, and I think this is a great idea. I love looking at pictures it takes me back there and that is where I dream of being.

One of the things I love is that many posters include photos with their trip reports
which usually has at least one person asking what camera they've used.
Sometimes one particular photo is hysterical, with captions to match. Is that what you
are talking about?
Offer up a photo, and we get to come up with the best caption sounds fun.

my thoughts exactly....i spent an unhealthy amount of my working day lurking on this forum,keeping up to speed with the goings on in the VI or looking at pics/reviews and reminiscing....

I have to say, seeing all the pictures from this site has made me really want to TRY to take great photos on my next trip to St. John. You are all inspirations!
Not that I don't look back on my own (quite ameteur) photos daily to reminisce. Sigh. 9 months to go.
sasky...after taking pics in such beautiful surroundings in the VI i've been inspired to try a little harder with my phtography and maybe invest in a bit of a equiment to turn it into a full blown hobby...i bought a guide to travel photography by lonely planet which is really great, wish i'd thought of it before my trip! oh well, guess i'll just have to do some more travel!
this is one i took a while ago...i live south of dublin city on the coast....there is a little island off our nearest town (dalkey island) that you can boat over for the day and this snap is taken from the island looking back towards Dalkey and Killiney hill...i live just the otherside of the hill....
