Need some advice. My fiancee and I are getting married in April and will be staying at the Wyndham. From what I've read it's only .5 miles to Lindquist beach but on a narrow, curvy road that isn't advised to walk for a party of 30 people. How can I get all of these people to the beach for the wedding? Is there a service aside from a small taxi that could accomodate? Like a van service? Thanks in advance for your help!8-)

Hi. Lindquist is very close to Sugar Bay but not something you'd want to walk on the way to a wedding. Many of the taxi vehicles used in St. Thomas are safaris and vans; there are also SUVs and cars. The vans usually can hold 9-12 people depending on the van size. And the safaris are usually around 18-26 passengers. So a safari and a van together could comfortably transport your group. Try contacting some of the taxis listed on the taxi/tour page on this website at: St. Thomas Taxis/Tours. They can give you a price for your group's transportation to Lindquist; also let them know if you want them to wait around for you and then take your group back to the resort or to another destination so you can get rates for that as well.

Congrats!

If you want to save a few bucks then take the Safari bus from Sugar bay to Linquest. It is about 1/2 a mile. The cost would be $1. per person. However going back you can still catch the Safari bus but you will need to go all around to Tutu and then to Sugar bay. The Safari's only go clock wise. Also make sure that you ask for Sugar Bay as some Safaris go to town and to TuTu.

Have a good wedding.

I walk that beach often from end to end.........you can walk to Lindqvist Beach along the shoreline. I've walked the beach to the Wyndham. There is a trail from the Wyndham to the end of Lindqvist Beach.

However, it is not an easy walk, as you will need to navigate an uneven beach area with rocks....and walk through some brush.

My son was married at Lindquist in December 2009. We hired Air Force One to chauffeur us for the day (Package 4). We were taken from Secret Harbor to Lindquist - then downtown for lunch while they waited for us - and then we were taken on a brief island tour before being returned to SH. Having AFO to get us from place to place was one of the best things we did....and Linquist was a perfect place for the wedding. Good luck.

As far as billd's suggestion about the safari bus, forget it with a party of 30. Safari buses aren't recommended for visitors at the best of times as they're not on a fixed schedule, their routes are confusing to a visitor and your party would end up standing on the side of the road for long periods waiting for the next bus to come along as one wouldn't be able to accommodate all of them along with their regular passengers.

As for the walking suggestion, I have visions of a group of 30 struggling through the bush and suddenly being swooped upon by a band of INS agents alerted to the possibility of a group of illegal immigrants having been dropped off by a boat onto our shores! 😛

STT:

LOL.........that would be a "real experience" for them, but I seriously think that the INS would be interested in a groupo of tourists walking along the beach.
