Are travelers checks excepted in most places in STT and STJ? What about debit/credit cards? We will be staying in STT and going over to STJ for a few day trips. We'll be eating at local bar & grills like skinny legs, duffy's, etc. and shopping at some of the stores in downtown STT. Would we have any trouble paying w/ travelers checks in these sort of places?

Trtavelor's checks, yes. Some of the smaller places don't take cards, due to the service fee. But TC's are like cash here.

We were told that on St.John some places do not take them - we took cash and had no problems. I think Travelers checks are in the past now that you can get cash easy just about anywhere.

no worries at all..... we always use travelers checks when we go to USVI and have zero problems. they are only valid once you sign them which is nice, because if they are lost or stolen.... you are not out any cash. we usually do 30% cash / 70% travelers checks when we visit.

I think we even used them at Duffy's Love Shack even though they prefer cash. Duffy's does not accept credit cards.
