Thursday 2/15
Today we planned to head to STJ to meet our friend Nate. His family has a villa there and he happened to be there at the same time as us. We take a taxi to Red Hook ($4 each from Sapphire Beach) to catch the passenger ferry. We give Nate a quick call and let him know we're on our way. We got a later start than we wanted because- you guessed it- we were making calls looking for our luggage. Long story short- still no info. All flights from Boston to STT on both airlines are cancelled again.

When we get off the ferry at STJ we check out the gift shop across the park (I forget the name). We each buy a t-shirt and a STJ bag. Nate meets us and we stop at Starfish Market for stuff for lunch and then we head to his family's villa in Chocolate Hole- Long View Villa. This is my first visit to the villa, Mike has been here many times. It is beautiful! Perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4-5. It has a pool and a gorgeous view.

We make our sandwiches and head out to the beach. We decide on Cinnamon for the day. We arrive at Cinnamon and find a parking spot easily. We walk down to the beach and Mike drops his stuff and heads for the water immediately. His back is feeling a little better at this point, and the anti-gravity of the water feels great. There is a crowd of about 7-8 totally drunk people that plop down next to us on the beach. There is one member in particular who is so incredibly obnoxious and loud. He decides that he's going to swim out to the island right off Cinnamon. Which is pretty comical considering he can hardly walk.... I was a little nervous for him but none of his friends seemed to care. We watched him and he actually made it! He rested-or passed out- for a while and headed back. It took him a little longer, but he did get back. Once he hit the sand he passed out again.

It is about 4:00 now and we decide to go back to the villa before hitting happy hour. We jump in the pool for a few- and I mean jump- I jumped in like a little kid which was a big mistake. I went knees-first and scraped up my right knee pretty badly. I mis-judged the depth of the pool. Stupid- and this was BEFORE happy hour.....Anyway we dry off and change into our new STJ t-shirts (can you say "tacky?") and head down to Woody's. We all get Rum Punch and lucked out with seats out front. We pretty much stay put for a couple of hours. We ordered dinner- chicken sandwiches, conch fritters and wings. Next thing I know, Kenny Chesney is walking by me into Woody's. Now I know how many of you feel about Kenny, but I have to say I am a HUGE fan. That said, I was not an annoying idiot- I did not approach him or make a scene. I was happy to just catch a glimpse of him- made my day.

From Woody's we head next door to the Quiet Mon for a couple more drinks before just making the last ferry back to STT.

Friday 2/16
At this point we are REALLY FRUSTRATED- still don't have our luggage. We make more calls, and more calls.... My mother called my cell to check in and see if we had our luggage yet. We filled her in. She said she was going to see what she could do, and I wished her luck. We head out to Molly Molone's for breakfast. We sat at the bar and had a great meal. The highlight of the meal was when my mother called back (about 30 minutes after I first spoke with her) and said our luggage was at the STT airport!! I still don't know how she got that info because even with both Mike and I working on it, we couldn't get anywhere. We finished our breakfast and head to the airport to get our bags. Thank goodness!!

When we return to Sapphire, we go to the beach for a couple of hours and then head to dinner at the Caribbean Saloon. I ordered the fillet with Gorgonzola and Mike gets the rib-eye. So far, this is the best meal we've had on the island. When we get back to the condo, the air conditioning has stopped working.... And the hot water knob has still not been repaired.

Sounds like things were finally working out for you all. Meeting up with KC and all. By the way, can I have your mother's phone number for the next time my luggage gets lost?

Thanks for the report, looking forward to hearing the rest of the story.

Wow you guys are real troopers!!! Look at the bright side, at least it was just your luggage stuck back in Boston and not you two! You picked a great week to be in the USVI - - away from the snow/cold!

I hope you all don't drink heavily. No offense, but it seems you both are fairly accident prone when NOT under the influence 🙂

Love the report...you guys have a good sense of humor! So jealous that you saw KC. Went to 3 of his concerts last summer...did a meet and greet but would love to see him in the islands! Of course I would not bother him either...the man needs some down time.

Loving your reports! and OMG! to see KC there would just be awesome. I know he needs his "down time" but oh it would be SO temping to ask for an autographed Woody's hat! 🙂

moral to this story - pack swimsuits and extra shorts/shirts in carry-on, right?
